The County to County Migration Flow Files CD-ROMs were issued January 1995. Since then we have discovered that a few of the files contained erroneous or incomplete data. We have created and released corrected files. The states and counties on the In-Migration CD-ROM for which corrected files have been produced include: Table data: Palm Beach (099), Pinellas (103), Polk (105), Putnam (107), St. John (109) and Sarasota County (115), FL (12); Stone (209), Sullivan (211), Taney (213), Texas (215) and Warren County (219), MO (29) Summary data: state of FL (12), Palm Beach (099), Pasco (101), Pinellas (103), Polk (105), Putnam (107), St. John (109) and Seminole County (117), FL (12); state of MO (29), Stone (209), Sullivan (211), Taney (213), Texas (215), Warren (219), Washington (221), Wayne (223), Webster (225) and Wright County (229), MO (29) The corrected files reside on the re-issued edition of the In-Migration CD-ROM. The user notes for the In-Migration CD-ROM have also been updated to include instructions and sample programs for converting the binary data files to ASCII. Several users have expressed an interest in a utility for converting the data since the original CD-ROM was issued. See the file \DOCUMENT\USERNOTE.ASC. The states and counties on the Out-Migration CD-ROM for which corrected files have been produced include: Summary data: state of MS (28), Harrison County (047), MS (28) Because only two summary data files were in error on the original Out-Migration CD-ROM, it will not be re-issued. These two files have been included as a zipped file (GO_CCMFF.EXE) in the \DOCUMENT directory of the re-issued In-Migration CD-ROM. This zipped file is also available for FTP copy from the Census Bulletin Board. The zipped file includes software for viewing the two summary data files. To obtain a copy of the corrected files and software from the bulletin board, connect to ftp.census.gov, log in as anonymous, go to the directory /pub/CD-Apps and get the file GO_CCMFF.EXE. Once you have copied this file from the re-issued In-Migration CD-ROM or the bulletin board to your hard drive, run it to extract the software and files. Then follow the directions in the README file. Please direct any questions to Dave Paletz at (301) 457-1326
