Verify system compatibility a. Operates with all IBM PC's and compatible. System must have 512 KB or more RAM (with at least 320 KB available after installing memory resident software). b. Verify that your CONFIG.SYS file contains the following lines: FILES = 20 BUFFERS = 8 [or more] 2. Create a new directory on your hard disk, and make this the current directory: MKDIR \PROFILE CHDIR \PROFILE 3. Uncompress the program, files, and documentation onto your hard disc: A:PROF1ZIP PROF1ZIP.EXE is a "self-extracting" archive containing PROFILE1.EXE and DOCUMENTSTION in compressed form. 4. Print out the complete documentation by typing: PRINT PROFILE1.DOC **************************************************************************** ** Starting PROFILE1 ** 1. Make the new \PROFILE directory the current directory: CHDIR \PROFILE 2. Start the program. PROFILE1 3. You will be asked to specify some drives. If your configuration includes a CD-ROM reader, you must specify a CD-ROM drive letter. This is the letter you assigned when you first installed the reader; often, the reader is assigned the letter "L". If you are useing a CD-ROM, you also will be asked to specify a "work drive."
